Enterprise and Service : A profile of Harshit Singh Bisht
Rooted in the quiet Himalayan hills of Tuleri village in Almora, Uttarakhand, Harshit Singh Bisht exemplifies the balance between honoring one’s origins and striving for future growth. Raised in an agricultural family, Harshit developed a strong work ethic early on. He completed his intermediate education in 2025 at Himalayan Inter College (HIC) in Chaukori—a place that grounded his values and nurtured his ambitions.
Currently based in Haldwani, Harshit is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) at Kumaun University, where he is in his second year. To build a strong foundation for modern career demands, he has also completed a Diploma in Computer Applications (DCA).
Harshit’s academic curiosity lies at the intersection of business, finance, and economics. His interest in these fields took root during his school years, driven by a desire to understand the mechanisms behind commerce and economic growth. Economics sparks his curiosity regarding how money circulates and how macro economies function. He is interested in Accountancy to meticulously track and manage financial transactions to ensure efficiency. While Business Studies deepens his understanding of how projects and enterprise concepts are planned, scaled, and sustained.
While his commerce background equips him with versatile practical skills, Harshit’s overarching, lifelong dream is to join the Armed Forces. Demonstrating his commitment to this goal, he earned an National Cadet Corps (NCC) ‘B’ Certificate, where he honed leadership, discipline, teamwork, and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
Having experienced both the tranquility of the hill country and the dynamic nature of urban living, Harshit holds a balanced view of growth in the Himalayas. He deeply values the fresh air, serene nature, and community ties of the hills, while recognizing the practical advantages of city life, such as superior infrastructure and broader career exposure.
Harshit is acutely aware of the systemic challenges confronting hill communities in Uttarakhand. To uplift his native village of Tuleri, he emphasizes the need for better healthcare, reliable transport, quality schooling, and digital connectivity. On a personal level, he aspires to contribute by promoting local education, raising awareness about government schemes, and mentoring youth to acquire practical skill sets.
Outside his academic pursuits, Harshit enjoys watching movies, traveling to destinations like Rishikesh and Munsiyari, playing sports, and spending time with family and friends. His appreciation for critical thinking is reflected in his choice of reading. He cites Bhagat Singh’s Why I Am An Atheist as his favorite book.
Harshit’s fondest memories of HIC revolve around camaraderie—playing volleyball matches with classmates and sharing quiet conversations on the back benches about their future aspirations. When asked what guidance he would share with the current students of HIC, Harshit offers a message of balanced focus:
"Some of the best moments of our lives are created during our school life. We should enjoy our school days to the fullest, but at the same time, we should not forget our future goals. Maintaining a balance between enjoyment and hard work will help us achieve success in life and ensure that we have no regrets in the future."
