A career in Nursing: Divya finds her calling in healing

Meet Divya Rawat, an alumnus of Himalayan Inter College (HIC), Chaukori, whose journey from a small farming village to pursuing her dreams in healthcare is an inspiration to all.

Hailing from Syoli, a picturesque village near Chaukori, Divya grew up surrounded by the natural beauty and tranquil rhythms of the hills. The daughter of a farming family, she has always held a deep appreciation for her roots. "I love my native place because it’s a place of beauty and calmness, where life moves at a slower pace," Divya shares.

Divya graduated from HIC in 2025. During her time here, she wasn't just a dedicated student; she was also an active National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet, balancing academics with discipline and leadership training. Her hard work did not go unnoticed—Divya was a recipient of a scholarship from the Himalayan Education Foundation (HEF), which supported her educational journey.

Looking back, Divya holds her school days close to her heart.

"Those were the best days of my life. There were friends and fun. And supportive teachers, especially the principal, who was kind and inspiring the students to do their best."

After completing her Intermediate studies, Divya decided to turn her passion for helping others into a career. Driven by a deep admiration for the dedication and care work displayed by healthcare professionals, she chose to enter the medical field.

She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Naincy College of Nursing in Jeolikote, Nainital

When she isn't busy studying anatomy or practicing clinical skills, Divya enjoys the simpler things in life. True to her peaceful upbringing, she is a self-proclaimed lover of quiet creativity and stays grounded by avoiding social media entirely. These are some of her favourite things:

Place: Munsiary

Movie: Shiddat

Musician: Karan Aujla

Hobbies: Making art and craft

Divya’s journey is a beautiful reminder that with a supportive community, a solid educational foundation, and a clear vision, you can reach any goal. We at HEF wish her the absolute best as she trains to become a nurse and continues to make her community proud!
