From the Himalayan Hills to High-Tech : Naman Joshi’s journey
A Bachelor of Technology student at Graphic Era Hill University, Haldwani, Naman Joshi is a driven and ambitious individual with a strong passion for engineering and a deep connection to his roots. Naman received a HEF scholarship while studying at Himalayan Inter College (HIC), Chaukori. He graduated from HIC in 2024. His father is a vehicle driver and mother, a home maker. Naman has a sister pursuing B.Sc in Nursing.
Originally from Kameri Devi, a village in Bageshwar district, Uttarakhand, Naman is currently pursuing a Computer Science and Engineering degree with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML). His interest in programming was sparked by watching his cousin work on projects, and he is now fully immersed in learning and doing projects in the field.
Naman is currently an intern at Coforge (https://www.coforge.com/ ), a digital services and solutions provider based in Noida, New Delhi and is actively working on a project related to AI development in India. Looking ahead, he plans to pursue his master's degree in Artificial Intelligence abroad to advance his career. However, his ambitions extend beyond the corporate world; he has a deep-seated desire to serve in the Indian Army, a passion that grew from his experience in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), while studying at HIC.
His time in the NCC was a transformative experience, instilling in him crucial life skills such as leadership, time management, discipline, and confidence. Naman says, “ NCC was a turning point in my life.My life as a cadet is one of the best experiences I have had.”
Naman is a self-described "boy from the hills" who is most passionate about mountain life. He loves traveling in the mountains and considers Kedarnath his favorite destination. While he acknowledges the greater opportunities cities offer, his heart remains in the hills. He is aware of the unique challenges faced by his community, from environmental issues to a lack of basic infrastructure like hospitals and roads. He expresses a desire to contribute to the betterment of his native village and society.
In his free time, Naman focuses on personal growth and his hobbies. He dedicates time to improving his coding skills and staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. He's also passionate about cars and enjoys jogging and exploring social media. His favorite book is James Clear's "Atomic Habits," and he listens to music by the pop singer Arijit Singh to relax.
HEF wishes him a productive career and a fulfilling and happy life.
